What is a good color for a 20 year olds room?

im a 20 year old girl and my room needs a remodel, stat! my bed is zebra print, so im looking for somthing to go with that. i loved the idea of a darkesh pink room but my dad ( the painter ) says its going to be too rowdy or whatever. are there any other colors i could use? or is the pink an okay color? and plus any rug colors would help out also because im still unsure of that as well! thanks a bunch :)
