Good face animation from sonic adventure?

I just recently got a dreamcast with sonic adventure (I am a video game collector) and I saw some funny face animations and assumed that they weren't remodeled with the english dubs and that the faces would go with the japanese dub.So I was wondering, Did sonic adventure have good facial animation for a console game for it's time? Or was it just awkward animation?
